My name is
Ana Batista
I'm the heart and soul behind Stockholm Therapy, and I'm eager to share a bit about myself and the ethos of my practice.
My love affair with Sweden began in 2007 when I moved to Uppsala to complete my degree's final thesis at Uppsala University. This journey marked the beginning of what I would fondly call my second life and home in the North, a place where I've undergone significant professional and personal evolution.
My career has been diverse, spanning work in psychiatry within the public health system and globe-trotting as an organizational consultant for some of the largest Nordic global companies. These experiences have enriched me with profound cultural sensitivity, extending beyond the Nordic realms to the myriad of cultures I've had the privilege to engage with.
With this background, I bring a unique perspective to my practice, confident in my ability to connect with and support you, wherever you're from and whatever challenges you're facing.
Academic Journey: Foundations of Expertise
Embarking on a rich and diverse academic path, I have dedicated years to deepening my understanding and skills in psychology, cognitive neuroscience, and integrative therapies.
Below are the milestones of my educational journey, each contributing to my holistic approach to mental health and well-being. From rigorous traditional studies to innovative therapeutic practices, this journey reflects my commitment to excellence and a passion for understanding the complexities of the human mind and relationships.

Between stimulus and response, there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.
Through this diverse academic journey, I have cultivated a practice that not only leans on traditional therapeutic methods but also embraces innovative approaches to health and well-being. My aim is to offer a therapy experience that is both scientifically grounded and deeply empathetic, tailored to meet the unique needs of each individual and couple I work with.

Client-Centered Engagement
At the core of my approach is a profound respect for the individuality of each client. I strive to understand your world from your perspective, fostering a therapeutic relationship built on trust, openness, and mutual respect.
Integrated Therapeutic Techniques
My specialisation in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and narrative therapy forms the foundation of my practice. However, I am committed to integrating insights from cognitive neuroscience and my experiences with yoga-based therapy and cultural sensitivity. This eclectic approach allows me to tailor sessions that are both scientifically grounded and intuitively aligned with your personal journey.

Individual sessions are 60 minutes, while couple's sessions are 75 minutes.
Initially, it's beneficial to have sessions weekly for the first 2-3 meetings to build momentum. As we make progress, we often shift to every other week, and sometimes monthly sessions can be effective for maintaining gains and continuing support once there's established progress.
The duration of therapy can vary greatly depending on the nature of the issues being addressed and the goals of therapy. For very specific and isolated issues, therapy can be as brief as 4-5 sessions. However, for more comprehensive treatment that aims for positive and lasting results, it's common to expect between 8-12 sessions. The length of therapy is ultimately tailored to meet your unique needs and ensure that you feel supported throughout your journey to well-being.
Currently, I am offering sessions exclusively online. This approach allows for greater flexibility and convenience, ensuring that you can receive support from the comfort of your own space, wherever you may be located.
Our initial session is primarily focused on "building the case." While it's important to set realistic expectations and understand that significant results typically require more than one session, many clients find this first meeting to be quite powerful. It's often a time when deep insights and understanding begin to surface, laying the groundwork for the therapeutic journey ahead.
